Majorette uniforms are all the rage when it’s parade season, but that’s not why I woke up this morning happy as a bee.
It’s parade season in several towns because of the weather. So, a majorette outfits photo project that showcases college majorette tricks, majorette costumes and majorette boots will get me good grades for a school project.
There is a town nearby with a huge band show going on so I’m heading there to watch college majorettes perform.
I’ve conceptualized several ideas for my project, but I think I’ll keep the title, High Kick by a Girl Wearing a Majorette Uniform, after all. I only have to keep snapping photos when the girls do the twirl, kick and catch.
I particularly need to get the kick part, for purely artistic reasons.
Uniform and skirt debates.
I’ve always adored majorette costumes, especially those worn by drum majorettes. In fact, I remember keeping majorette clipart on my desktop just to keep me from getting bored when I was in high school. The kicks and the baton twirls, as well as the billowing of those short skirts, kept my young heart pounding.
I even tried to get a classmate who looked like Jessica Simpson to try on some majorette outfits in front of me (she thought I was a gay band geek, so she agreed).
I particularly like looking at, and comparing, various skirt lengths of band majorette uniforms. Some majorette costume styles are so beige they look almost like bare skin. That’s my favourite style by the way.
The tight, beige-colored tops makes the brighter-color highlights on one majorette uniform style really stand out. My only wish is that majorette skirts were made just a few centimetres shorter. Is that too much to ask?
At the very least, the additional lack in length will really set off the majorette boots.
