It all began in Detective Comics #233 (1956). Batwomen abound in adult costume parties, whether or not it is Halloween.
I wonder what the appeal of a batwoman costume is, and how it is different from bat girl. Maybe it’s because the mystery of the batwoman is greater.
I mean, batgirl is often associated with teenage idolatry, while batwoman is ripe and full of adult goodness. The batgirl images of batgirl captured really do seem too infantile, but only if the viewer does not consider the context of tight batgirl bondage in her bat girl costume. What is it about the idea of batgirl chloroformed that appeals to adult men? Maybe it’s the fact that batwomen are often in the dreams of young and old girls alike. But there is a striking difference between the older woman and the younger one. The concept of a female version of the superhero may have arisen because of the fact that there has always been an underlying doubt about the real relationship of batman and robin.

I mean, would an ordinary rich guy pick up a boy from the street and give him access to expensive cars? The girl version and the romantic involvement with robin is to prevent female fans from thinking robin is gay.
The batman mystery of the batwoman may be the reason for the many batwomen in costume parties. In the story, bat girl might have hooked up with someone and became batwoman. Or maybe the background story involved bat woman, batgirl and batman, which begs the question ‘what is the mystery of the batwoman all about’. The story of batgirl traps n batgirl in peril was geared toward a robin-related romance, which was illustrated perfectly in a batgirl sketch of alicia silverstone as batgirl. Am I going batty on bat-babes?, yep I reckon I am!
